Two universes collide when the crew of the Enterprise-D encounter the Doctor (in his eleventh incarnation) and his companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams, as an insidious alliance between the Borg and the Cybermen attacks the Federation. The Doctor's own timestream is in danger, as he recalls an encounter one of his previous incarnations had with the crew of the original Enterprise – an encounter that supposedly never actually happened.
